The Arizona Diamondbacks have acquired Lucas Harrell from the Houston Astros for a player to be named later and cash.

Harrell was designated for assignment on April 16 after opening the season 0-3 with a 9.49 ERA.

He cleared waivers on April 22 and was sent to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

The San Diego Padres are discussing a trade of Nick Hundley.

Hundley has started just four of the Padres' first 21 games, becoming the odd man out at catcher behind Yasmani Grandal and Rene Rivera.

“I’ve been around this game too long to speculate on things like that,” Hundley said. “Those are decisions that are outside of my pay grade. As an employee of the San Diego Padres, it’s my job to prepare and to help us win. That’s my only job. Whether I’m a Padre for my entire career or not, it’s an irrelevant fact. The only important thing is I come prepared to help us win.”

The Atlanta Braves have traded Tyler Greene to the San Diego Padres for a player to be named later.

Greene, 30, was playing in Triple-A for the Atlanta organization.

He has seen Major League action in each of the last five seasons.

The Minnesota Twins have actively been upgrading their bench in recent weeks and they may not be done tinkering.

Minnesota has acquired Eduardo Nunez from the New York Yankees and claimed Sam Fuld off waivers from Oakland.

"We aren't finished," Ron Gardenhire said. "We're going to get better. We're going to continue to get better. We're going to keep changing around until we get what we want and get a feel for what we want off the bench. How we can move people around. And we are still working on it."

Theo Epstein believes both the Chicago Cubs and New York Yankees benefited from last July's trade that sent Alfonso Soriano to the Bronx.

The Cubs traded Soriano to the Yankees for minor league pitcher Corey Black while also agreeing to pay about $17.7 million of the estimated $24.5 million remaining on Soriano's contract, which expires after this season.

"It looks like a deal that worked out for both sides," Epstein said.

"He had a no-trade clause and the Yankees were a team he felt comfortable with. We were in talks for a while. They said no to all the players [we asked for], including Corey Black. And then eventually they said they would do Black."

The Cubs and Yankees will play a doubleheader on Wednesday after being rained out on Tuesday.

The Oakland Athletics designated Sam Fuld for assignment on Sunday and will now gauge trade possibilities.

The Los Angeles Angels and Minnesota Twins are two clubs that showed interest in Fuld last offseason and are still in need of an outfielder.

The Chicago White Sox have acquired Gorkys Hernandez from the Kansas City Royals and assigned him to their Triple-A affiliate.

The Royals will receive cash considerations to complete the trade.

Hernandez, 26, was listed as a Top 100 prospect by Baseball America and Baseball Prospectus in both 2008 and 2009.

The outfielder has a career .269/.337/.370 batting line in four seasons at the Triple-A level.

The Arizona Diamondbacks expect to sign a veteran starter to add depth at the Triple-A level rather soon.

The club will open a weekend series against the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 6.57 ERA, the second-highest mark in the Major Leagues.

The New York Yankees have traded Eduardo Nunez to the Minnesota Twins for Class A left-hander Miguel Sulbaran.

In 2013, Sulbaran was 9-4 with a 2.96 ERA in 112 2/3 innings with Class A Great Lakes and Class A Cedar Rapids. He struck out 101 and walked 32.

Nunez lost a spring training battle with Yangervis Solarte for New York's final roster spot.

The Yankees could have included Nunez in a deal that would have landed Cliff Lee in 2010, but wanted to hold on to him thinking he could be a starting shortstop one day.

The New York Yankees are in need of a first baseman after Mark Teixeira landed on the disabled list this weekend with a strained hamstring.

Anthony Rieber of Newsday points out that Ike Davis seems perfect for the Yankees, especially with a left-handed swing made for Yankee Stadium.

Davis has seen his name involved in trade rumors for quite a while. The New York Mets have been paring Davis with Lucas Duda, who they seem to favor.
